North Norfolk District Council is hosting the sessions to mark the co-creation of the first coastal transition plans.

The plans were developed by the communities in Happisburgh and Trimingham, where the advancing coastline could mean the loss of homes, land and infrastructure.

The plans were developed as a starting point and over time they can be developed and evolved with progress.

The first event is being held at Church Rooms in Happisurgh on July 15 from 3pm to 7pm, and the second at Trimingham Hall on July 17 from 3pm to 7pm.

While the council has previously indicated that large-scale sea defences may not be feasible, campaigners say more must be done to slow erosion and support affected communities.

In its coastal management plan, the district council said: “The council is committed to seeking a sustainable coastal management approach for the north Norfolk coast.

“This will involve continued coast protection where practicable, however, it is likely that it will not be environmental sustainable or financially viable in some locations.”

Malcom Kerby, co-founder of the Coastal Action Group, helped spearhead the fundraising efforts which brought the original rock armour to Happisburgh.

His speech at a Coastwise Liasion meeting last month suggested a similar route can be taken today.

The meetings will have a presentation about the plans and provide an opportunity for people to learn about adaptation priorities.

North Norfolk District Council is hosting the sessions to mark the co-creation of the first coastal transition plans.…

[22
1397,90,56,54,55
post-691787","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-environment","tag-environment","tag-science","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom
["GET
