Google and its AI Search are the latest to draw criticism.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, it may have been the success of the Chromebooks that caused this \u2013 they are very popular as school laptops. The Common Sense Media organization explains that the thing that separates Google\u2019s AI from all the other AI services is that it is \u201cubiquitous on children&#8217;s personal and school-issued devices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"image-row clearfix\">&#13;<br \/>\n<a onclick=\"javascript:ShowImg2(&quot;news\/26\/07\/google-ai-mode-child-safety\/popup\/-x1088\/gsmarena_001.jpg&quot;);return false\" href=\"#\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Who needs to learn math when AI can just solve the problems for you\" width=\"402\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1784149162_121_gsmarena_001.jpg\"\/><\/a>&#13;<br \/>\n<br \/>Who needs to learn math when AI can just solve the problems for you<\/p>\n<p>The organization found several issues. Homework is one \u2013 Google\u2019s AI Mode would happily do all the homework that the student was supposed to do. Worse, it would present different answers from one attempt to another, sometimes right, sometimes wrong.<\/p>\n<p>It gets worse from there. According to the organization, Google\u2019s AI Mode \u201cfailed kids in crisis, including missing clear signs of suicidal ideation, reinforcing signs of psychosis and mania, validating disordered eating including purging and celebrating cannabis use.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-image\" width=\"1200\" height=\"490\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1784149162_713_gsmarena_002.jpg\" alt=\"Study finds that Google's AI features create ''unacceptable risks'' for children\"\/><\/p>\n<p>AI Mode is the chatbot interface and only appears when the user clicks on the \u201cAI Mode\u201d button. There\u2019s also the AI Overview feature, which appears automatically.
