As marketing for Halo: Campaign Evolved<\/a> continues to ramp up following the game going gold<\/a>, so too does the coverage from developer Halo Studios. Just yesterday, the team hosted an hour-long livestream<\/a> where we got our first proper look at splitscreen co-op, in addition to details surrounding skulls and the challenging LASO mode.<\/p>\n

It’s strange, we could’ve sworn we’d seen splitscreen before now, but it turns out we hadn’t. This is the official reveal, and it looks brilliant. Well, about as brilliant as sharing half a screen can look, anyway. I came away from the livestream feeling quite emotional.<\/p>\n

The horizontal split looks natural, and combined with the devs accidentally bonking each other with friendly fire enabled, it captures the spirit of the original Halo: Combat Evolved<\/a>. Considering a Halo game hasn’t shipped with campaign splitscreen co-op since Halo 4<\/a> in 2012, it’s easy to see why this is such a big deal.<\/p>\n

As we mentioned, there’s plenty more stuffed inside the livestream<\/a>, including a closer look at the Machinima mode that lets creators tell their own Halo stories like the good old days of Red vs. Blue.
