{"id":694309,"date":"2026-07-16T06:14:11","date_gmt":"2026-07-16T06:14:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/694309\/"},"modified":"2026-07-16T06:14:11","modified_gmt":"2026-07-16T06:14:11","slug":"greg-taylor-on-his-celtic-exit-last-summer-for-paok","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/694309\/","title":{"rendered":"Greg Taylor on his Celtic exit last summer for PAOK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  The 28-year-old defender, who helped Celtic win 11 trophies during his six-year spell, moved to Greek club PAOK on a free transfer in July 2025.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Taylor, who made 216 appearances for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/topics\/parkhead\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Parkhead<\/a> side, has explained that Kieran Tierney&#8217;s return to the club was a major factor in his decision to leave.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He told Charlie Mulgrew&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@Mulgrew_Pitch_To_Par?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Pitch to Par<\/a> YouTube series: &#8220;I think there were probably talks throughout.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;I think in the ideal scenario, if you knew you were probably going to be as much of a mainstay as you\u2019d been before.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;That was my big thing, I was desperate to still be a main voice, a main player.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He added: &#8220;I felt like that\u2019s what I\u2019d been, and I\u2019d done that, and I\u2019d obviously known Kieran was coming back, which made that a wee bit more difficult.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;So, just with that, I just felt that it was maybe the time to try something different.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;I was at an age that, if I didn\u2019t move on, I was never going to.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Despite his departure, Taylor only has fond memories of his time at Celtic.
