\n\tIndian actor-turned-politician Vijay<\/a>\u2018s long-delayed cinematic swan song \u201cJana Nayagan<\/a>\u201d will open in theaters worldwide on July 23, KVN Productions has revealed. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe date arrives more than six months after the Tamil-language film\u2019s original Jan. 9 launch<\/a> was derailed by a protracted dispute with India\u2019s Central Board of Film Certification and a separate piracy breach earlier this year.<\/p>\n

\n\tDirected by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions\u2019 Venkat K. Narayana, \u201cJana Nayagan\u201d \u2013 whose title translates as \u201cThe People\u2019s Leader\u201d \u2013 is the final screen appearance of the actor born Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar, who retired from acting in 2024 to enter politics and was sworn in as Chief Minister of the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu<\/a> on May 9.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThere are very few moments in cinema that feel truly historic, and \u2018Jana Nayagan\u2019 is one such moment,\u201d Venkat K. Narayana said. \u201cAs Thalapathy Vijay prepares for his final outing on the big screen, we are honored to be a part of this journey and to bring this special film to his fans across the world. It has been remarkable to witness a journey that began with cinema and went on to inspire millions, ultimately leading him to become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu \u2013 a testament to the extraordinary connection he shares with the people. We are confident that \u2018Jana Nayagan\u2019 will be a memorable theatrical experience and a fitting tribute to a phenomenal career.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film was originally positioned for the Makar Sankranti and Pongal holiday corridor, a window Vijay had mined successfully across a career spanning 69 lead roles. His last release, \u201cThe Greatest of All Time\u201d (2024), grossed approximately $52 million. Global distribution for \u201cJana Nayagan\u201d is handled by Phars Film.<\/p>\n

\n\tVinoth previously directed three consecutive Ajith Kumar vehicles \u2013 \u201cNerkonda Paarvai\u201d (2019), \u201cValimai\u201d (2022), and \u201cThunivu\u201d (2023) \u2013 before taking on this project. Further promotional details are expected in the coming days.<\/p>\n
