The streaming service revealed the news in its <a href=\"https:\/\/ir.netflix.net\/files\/doc_financials\/2026\/q2\/FINAL-Q2-26-Shareholder-Letter.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">second-quarter earnings report<\/a> released on Thursday, saying it\u2019s \u201cincreasingly leveraging these tools to deliver higher quality output more quickly and at a lower cost.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">It also provided some examples of titles that used AI, including The American Experiment, Glory, and Brasil 70: A Saga do Tri. These shows used the technology to \u201ccreate highly complex sequences,\u201d including \u201cenhanced crowds, historical battle sequences, and worldbuilding establishing shots.\u201d During Netflix\u2019s call with investors, co-CEO Ted Sarandos said The American Experiment docuseries includes 17 minutes of \u201cAI-enhanced footage,\u201d which \u201cwere produced twice as fast and at half the cost of previous options.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">\u201cIn many of the cases, productions would have left out those key shots because they just wouldn\u2019t have been able to afford them,\u201d Sarandos added. \u201cThey wouldn\u2019t have been able to do them in the timeframes that they\u2019re working on.\u201d Sarandos similarly said last year that AI was used to create a scene <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/709863\/netflix-generative-ai-the-eternaut\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">in the sci-fi series The Eternaut<\/a> to save time and cut costs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Netflix reported earning $12.56 billion over the past few months, and says it\u2019s still on track to double its ad revenue to $3 billion. In its letter to shareholders, Netflix also addressed some concerns about engagement, which came up after a report from Bloomberg revealed that the streaming giant is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/streaming\/961828\/netflix-viewers-arent-sticking-around-for-season-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">struggling to keep viewers around<\/a> for the second season of its shows.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">The service says \u201ctime spent is just one aspect of strong engagement,\u201d adding that \u201cquality and variety also matter.\u201d It also highlights that its<a href=\"https:\/\/about.netflix.com\/en\/news\/what-we-watched-the-first-half-of-2026\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> latest What We Watched report<\/a> shows that subscribers watched over 97 billion hours, up 2 percent year over year.
