Ed O\u2019Brien has lifted the lid on Radiohead<\/a>\u2018s future touring plans and explained why there\u2019s little chance of them playing more than 20 shows per year.<\/p>\n Last year, Radiohead returned to Europe after a seven-year live hiatus, performing a limited run of 20 dates, consisting of four shows in London, Bologna, Madrid, Berlin and Copenhagen.<\/p>\n Then, in March, O\u2019Brien suggested that they could follow up on it in 2027 with another 20-date tour on another continent outside of Europe.<\/p>\n He shared<\/a>, \u201cWhat we\u2019re going to do is, every year we\u2019re going to do a different continent, and we\u2019re going to do 20 shows each year. No more, no less.\u201d<\/p>\n At the time, O\u2019Brien stated this method of touring was to preserve their energy, insisting, \u201cWe want to give absolutely everything each night.\u201d<\/p>\n Now, in a recent conversation with the Los Angeles Times<\/a>, O\u2019Brien has elaborated on what he meant, and seemingly rode back, to a degree, on his pledge that Radiohead will play 20 shows per year.<\/p>\n In regards to his past remarks, he shared, \u201cTake that with a pinch of salt. I don\u2019t think we\u2019ll do any\u00a0more\u00a0than 20 shows.\u201d<\/p>\n O\u2019Brien elaborated, \u201cBecause you can\u2019t do any more \u2014 these songs, they\u2019re too powerful. The shows last year were really emotional. By the end of it, you were drained.\u201d<\/p>\n The guitarist also touched upon their young audiences which demands an energetic performance, noting that their \u201cbiggest demographic, which you can see from streaming, is 16 to 24\u201d, before adding, \u201cThere\u2019s an outpouring of emotion from them and from us, so in order to do more shows, you\u2019d have to somehow limit the amount you gave to each performance.\u201d<\/p>\n He admitted, \u201cAnd I think we\u2019re unwilling to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n For now, Radiohead have no dates announced, but O\u2019Brien, who released his second album Blue Morpho<\/a> in May, will be keeping busy on the road later this year.<\/p>\n In October, he\u2019s set for a European tour<\/a>, which will see him visit the Netherlands, Italy, France, Germany, and the UK.<\/p>\n
