But even she\u2019s been surprised by what she\u2019s learned while reporting for her latest project, the women\u2019s health podcast Healthful, which debuts July 22.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"1\" class=\"css-1ood0zq emevuu60\">\u201cAs a journalist I always say, \u2018Tell me something I don&#8217;t know,\u2019 and we&#8217;re really doing that with this podcast,\u201d O\u2019Donnell says. (Get an exclusive first-look at Healthful\u2019s trailer below.)<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"2\" class=\"css-1ood0zq emevuu60\">In one episode, for instance, O\u2019Donnell tackles the alarming rise of lung cancer in \u201cnever-smokers\u201d\u2014and its increasing prevalence in women, specifically.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"5\" class=\"css-1ood0zq emevuu60\">\u201cI think I&#8217;m pretty well-read in the topic of health. Everybody in my family is a scientist,\u201d O\u2019Donnell says. \u201cThis was not on my radar.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"6\" class=\"css-1ood0zq emevuu60\">Additional episodes will cover subject matter like hormone therapy, movement as medicine, and the diet-Alzheimer\u2019s connection.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"8\" class=\"css-1ood0zq emevuu60\">\u201cI&#8217;m introducing women to the world&#8217;s leading experts on all these things that we want to know more about at a time where we have all this access to information, and yet many of us are more confused than ever,\u201d O\u2019Donnell says of her mission for the podcast, which will be interactive, allowing listeners to submit questions they\u2019d like to have answered.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"9\" class=\"css-1ood0zq emevuu60\">Healthful is also a reflection of O\u2019Donnell\u2019s personal approach to wellness. At 52 years old, she\u2019s embraced a number of habits she hopes will boost her health and longevity.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"10\" class=\"css-1ood0zq emevuu60\">To start, O\u2019Donnell works with personal trainer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/health\/a46009878\/candace-cameron-bure-workout-routine-kira-stokes\/\" target=\"_self\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/health\/a46009878\/candace-cameron-bure-workout-routine-kira-stokes\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"Kira Stokes\" data-node-id=\"10.1\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kira Stokes<\/a> (who appears on an episode of the podcast) two to three times a week on functional strength training and mobility. \u201cIt\u2019s so much <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/fitness\/g29565103\/best-resistance-band-exercises\/\" target=\"_self\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/fitness\/g29565103\/best-resistance-band-exercises\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"band work\" data-node-id=\"10.3\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">band work<\/a>,\u201d O\u2019Donnell says. \u201cI also describe it as preventative training\u2014so much of that work is so that I don&#8217;t injure myself when I&#8217;m playing tennis.\u201d (If you\u2019re curious, O\u2019Donnell\u2019s favorite exercise is bicep curls; her least favorite is burpees.)<\/p>\n<p><img draggable=\"true\" alt=\"Two women performing fitness exercises together in a gym, using resistance bands for support and balance.\" title=\"Two women performing fitness exercises together in a gym, using resistance bands for support and balance.\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"3024\" height=\"4032\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" style=\"color:transparent;width:100%;height:auto;\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/4c41b09e-18aa-4103-87c4-0e5ae3cfef5f.jpg\" class=\"css-0 e1ddfba50\"\/>Courtesy of Norah O&#8217;Donnell\/CBS News<\/p>\n<p>Stokes and O\u2019Donnell training<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"12\" class=\"css-1ood0zq emevuu60\">O\u2019Donnell supplements her strength-training with cardio, including the aforementioned tennis matches (usually on Saturdays and Sundays) and near-daily walks. Her new favorite habit is taking a 10-20 minute walk right after dinner, to help manage insulin levels.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"13\" class=\"css-1ood0zq emevuu60\">And speaking of meals, O\u2019Donnell tends to eat the rainbow, with a mix of fruits, vegetables, and protein. (As a high-school runner, O\u2019Donnell got an early start prioritizing nutrition.) She usually begins her day with a pretty impressive smoothie: \u201cIt has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/health\/a27562416\/turmeric-benefits\/\" target=\"_self\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/health\/a27562416\/turmeric-benefits\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"turmeric\" data-node-id=\"13.1\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">turmeric<\/a> ice cubes and a little dash of black pepper because that helps bring out the curcumin in the turmeric,\u201d she says. \u201cAlso in there is frozen blueberries, frozen banana, frozen fresh pineapple, Fage Greek yogurt, a scoop of almond butter, a scoop of creatine, and almond milk. Sometimes I put mint in there too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"14\" class=\"css-1ood0zq emevuu60\">Lunch is usually a salad, followed by a dinner consisting of a protein and veggies.
