Rose Byrne<\/a>, after giving one of the defining performances of her career<\/a> in \u201cIf I Had Legs I\u2019d Kick You,\u201d is reuniting with her director Mary Bronstein<\/a> for a new film<\/a> called \u201cNasty<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

The film will star Byrne alongside Jenna Ortega<\/a>, and Warner Bros. Pictures\u2019 Clockwork<\/a> banner is releasing the film. The studio announced the project on Thursday, July 16, along with a poster teaser image for the film.<\/p>\n

\u201cNasty\u201d is based on a script by Isabella Jarosz that landed on the 2024 Black List. It follows a young woman battling for a spot on the Olympic gymnastics team who must overcome her biggest opponent: her coach.<\/p>\n

Margot Robbie\u2019s LuckyChap banner is producing the film, as is Ortega, and production on \u201cNasty\u201d intends to begin this fall. <\/p>\n

Byrne was Oscar-nominated for Best Actress for \u201cIf I Had Legs I\u2019d Kick You,\u201d in which she played a frazzled mother and therapist barely keeping her own head above water<\/a>. The film was Bronstein\u2019s second feature. Byrne is next starring in the Peacock series \u201cThe Good Daughter,\u201d and Bronstein is also developing a series called \u201cThe Nanny Squatter\u201d for Apple TV.<\/p>\n

\u201cWednesday\u201d star Ortega will next be seen in Taika Waititi\u2019s \u201cKlara and the Sun\u201d and JJ Abrams\u2019 next film, also for Warner Bros., \u201cThe Great Beyond.\u201d That movie was meant to release this year but was just pushed to Fall 2027.<\/a><\/p>\n

Clockwork<\/a> is the upstart indie label at Warner Bros. led by a trio of former Neon executives. Sean Baker\u2019s next film \u201cTi Amo!\u201d is the first new film announced under the label, and it also acquired the Park Chan-wook\u2019s next film \u201cBrigands of Rattlecreek\u201d<\/a> starring Matthew McConaughey, Pedro Pascal, and Austin Butler. It will this fall re-release Ken Russell\u2019s controversial classic \u201cThe Devils,\u201d and the banner earlier this week spearheaded a first look deal at WB with Chris Ferguson and his studio Oddfellows, which has been behind \u201cBackrooms,\u201d \u201cLonglegs,\u201d and \u201cThe Monkey.\u201d <\/p>\n
