\n NHS Essex has released a detailed set of frequently asked questions following the confirmation that Norton Place health centre will close in September.\n<\/p>\n
\n The site currently serves around 37,000 patients with about 250 weekly appointments, but services are set to be reorganised across other locations.\n<\/p>\n
\n Bosses say the changes are not due to funding cuts, but instead reflect a national shift in how money is distributed to GP practices rather than Primary Care Networks.\n<\/p>\n
\n However, the update states that Shoebury remains a “priority” due to expected population growth and higher levels of deprivation.\n<\/p>\n
\n Despite this, NHS Essex has highlighted ongoing difficulties in delivering long-promised plans for a new health facility in the area.\n<\/p>\n
\n Bosses say rising construction costs, limited capital funding and wider financial pressures have prevented the project from moving forward.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
\n They add that changes in government priorities and increasing demand on NHS resources have further complicated progress.\n<\/p>\n
\n But, says it is continuing to work with Southend Council, GP practices and other partners to identify the “most sustainable long-term solution for primary and community healthcare” in Shoebury.\n<\/p>\n
\n In the meantime, efforts are being made to improve existing facilities where possible, even though the current health centre building has recognised limitations.\n<\/p>\n
\n Patients have been told to attend appointments as normal unless contacted, with assurances that services will continue, albeit potentially from different locations.\n<\/p>\n
\n A spokesman for NHS Essex\u00a0stated: \u201cThe current Primary Care Network review will continue separately from the longer-term work to improve healthcare facilities in Shoebury.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Although securing funding for a new health facility remains challenging, we remain committed to working with partners to find sustainable solutions that meet the long-term healthcare needs of the Shoebury community.\n<\/p>\n
\n “In the meantime, our priority is to ensure local people continue to have access to safe, high-quality NHS services.”\n<\/p>\n
