Which is exactly what was happening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Trump, sounding hoarse, claimed China had \u201cfought like hell\u201d to stop him winning since 2019, by paying journalists to run negative stories about him and \u201cinfluence\u201d business leaders to turn against him.<\/p>\n<p>Beijing also worked to \u201cinfluence the results of the US mid-term elections\u201d in mid-2018, he said. Mr Trump did not declare that he won the 2020 election or that the alleged Chinese intervention had prevented him from defeating <a class=\"ck-custom-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/joe-biden\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Joe Biden<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The White House released a trove of declassified intelligence material <a class=\"ck-custom-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/election-integrity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">on its website<\/a> to back up the president\u2019s claims.<\/p>\n<p>The Trump administration also claimed on the website that \u201cour machines and ballot-counting systems are exposed to hacking and manipulation\u201d, alleging that \u201cevidence of fraud has been buried\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Millions of ballots \u2018floating aimlessly\u2019<\/p>\n<p>It added: \u201cWe still have elections with no voter ID, no proof of citizenship, and tens of millions of ballots floating aimlessly through the mail.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In an email to supporters, the Democrats\u2019 governing body accused the president of \u201clying about the 2020 elections to give himself cover as he tries to interfere with the upcoming mid-terms\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>It said: \u201cTonight, Donald Trump desperately tried to justify his assault on free and fair elections with lies about the 2020 election he lost.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrump and Republicans continue to lay the groundwork for interfering with the midterm elections in an attempt to seize power.
