{"id":697351,"date":"2026-07-17T21:48:12","date_gmt":"2026-07-17T21:48:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/697351\/"},"modified":"2026-07-17T21:48:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-17T21:48:12","slug":"second-x-files-film-darker-cut-sets-date","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/697351\/","title":{"rendered":"Second &#8220;X-Files&#8221; Film Darker Cut Sets Date"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/second-x-files-film-darker-cut-sets-date.jpg\" data-caption=\"20th Century Studios\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/second-x-files-film-darker-cut-sets-date.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"second-x-files-film-darker-cut-sets-date\"\/><\/a>20th Century Studios<\/p>\n<p>Disney has officially announced that the never-before-seen R-rated new director\u2019s cut of the second \u201cThe X-Files\u201d film, 2008\u2019s \u201cThe X-Files: I Want to Believe,\u201d will hit streaming next month.<\/p>\n<p>Carter first teased this new version a year ago when appearing on David Duchovny\u2019s podcast \u201cFail Better,\u201d saying that when creating the film he \u201cmade it too scary\u201d and had to cut it for release to get a PG-13 rating.<\/p>\n<p>Almost twenty years on, he says: \u201cNow I have a chance to go back and make the scary movie that I always intended\u201d.  The result is a new version titled \u201cThe X-Files: I Want to Believe Vrach Frankenshteyn\u201d which will premiere on Hulu on August 14th.<\/p>\n<p>Vrach Frankenshteyn is Russian for Dr. Frankenstein, an allusion to both the cobbled-together nature of the new cut as well as the film\u2019s overall plot which involves a Frankenstein-inspired plot involving harvested organs and human body transplants.<\/p>\n<p>The new version is said to \u201cfaithfully restore the filmmaker\u2019s original vision\u201d.
