In the most recent installment of Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness<\/a>, which streams on HBO Max, the Curb Your Enthusiasm creator plays Dora Salk, the mother of virologist Jonas Salk, who developed the first successful polio vaccine.<\/p>\n In the scene, David\u2019s character is confronted by a character named \u201cBobby\u201d who states: \u201cThat vaccine\u2019s gonna kill people. It\u2019s gonna give them heart attacks!\u201d<\/p>\n David\u2019s character shoots back: \u201cDrop dead, Bobby!\u201d<\/p>\n Dora continues: \u201cYou should die a dog\u2019s death. You don\u2019t know anything about science, you\u2019re not a doctor.\u201d<\/p>\n After Bobby responda that if he \u201cwas in charge, I\u2019d make sure that no kids took that vaccine. That goes for measles, too,\u201d David\u2019s character adds: \u201cIf you were in charge, God help us all! If some idiot, some moron, ever put you in charge, that would be a dark day for humanity.\u201d<\/p>\n In real life Kennedy, who is often referred to as \u201cBobby,\u201d is married to David\u2019s former Curb Your Enthusiasm screen wife Cheryl Hines.<\/p>\n David was reportedly the person to first introduce the couple, prior to their marriage in August 2014.<\/p>\n He has since fallen out with them over their differing political positions, and Hines is notable for being the only core member of the Curb Your Enthusiasm cast not to appear in Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness<\/a>.<\/p>\n Asked by Variety<\/a> why Hines is absent from the show, Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness director Jeff Schaffer said: \u201cYou know, it just didn\u2019t work out that way.\u201d<\/p>\n In December last year, Hines said of David: \u201cI think he\u2019s mad because Bobby\u2019s in the administration.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n After adding that David is \u201cnot happy about politics,\u201d she insisted that they weren\u2019t close outside of filming anyhow.<\/p>\n \u201cI actually think I would be fine talking to Larry,\u201d she added. \u201cSomebody asked me, \u2018What would happen if you walked into a restaurant and he was there?\u2019 I would be happy to see him and I\u2019d say hi and we\u2019d talk for a second.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know,\u201d Hines mused. \u201cIt\u2019s not like Larry and I used to play pickleball and we don\u2019t now. You know what I mean? I would really see him at work or things like that once in a while, have lunch, but I haven\u2019t really been around in LA the same time he has. So, I don\u2019t know.
