Eddie Hearn has questioned the power and durability of one man as Ryan Garcia<\/a> vs Conor Benn<\/a> is officially announced.<\/p>\n

The pair will collide at Las Vegas\u2019 T-Mobile Arena on September 12, heading a co-promotion between Oscar De La Hoya\u2019s Golden Boy and Dana White\u2019s Zuffa Boxing.<\/p>\n

Their welterweight showdown had, of course, been rumoured for quite some time, with an announcement earlier this week finally confirming Garcia\u2019s WBC title defence.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old claimed his belt by dethroning Mario Barrios with a unanimous decision victory<\/a> in February, which followed his largely unexpected points defeat to Rolando Romero<\/a> in May 2025.<\/p>\n

But despite his previous setbacks, Garcia is now widely considered to be a world-level fighter while Benn, on the other hand, is yet to prove his top-class credentials.<\/p>\n

In fact, the 29-year-old\u2019s most significant victories have all arrived against fighters on the brink of retirement, including Chris Eubank Jr and Regis Prograis.<\/p>\n

Not only that, but Benn has fought above 147lbs since his second-round finish over Chris van Heerden \u2013 another carefully selected opponent \u2013 in 2022.<\/p>\n

It is, therefore, partly for this reason that Matchroom promoter Hearn has expressed doubt over Benn\u2019s chances in an interview with K.O. Artist Sports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an exciting fight for boxing. I don\u2019t like Conor at 147[lbs]; I don\u2019t believe he should be fighting down there.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe had those two fights with Eubank at 160[lbs]. I\u2019m not saying he\u2019s a middleweight, [but then] he fought Regis Prograis at 150[lbs]. He looked terrible in that fight.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Making 147lbs should be] brutal for him now. He trains so hard, but I don\u2019t think he has power down there. I don\u2019t think he\u2019ll have the chin down there.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd Ryan\u2019s a world-class fighter. He\u2019s very sharp and is a big puncher. But it\u2019ll be fun because Conor\u2019s got big balls \u2013 he\u2019ll have a right go.\u201d<\/p>\n
