{"id":70074,"date":"2025-08-16T00:39:11","date_gmt":"2025-08-16T00:39:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/70074\/"},"modified":"2025-08-16T00:39:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-16T00:39:11","slug":"circuit-franco-belge-jonas-abrahamsen-charges-from-breakaway-on-uphill-finish-for-victory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/70074\/","title":{"rendered":"Circuit Franco-Belge: Jonas Abrahamsen charges from breakaway on uphill finish for victory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"f6b9ca95-70b6-4005-a2fc-d16bbe659cd9\">Jonas Abrahamsen (Uno-X Mobility) secured the breakaway sprint victory at <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/races\/circuit-franco-belge-2024\/\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/races\/circuit-franco-belge-2024\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Circuit Franco-Belge<\/a> on the streets of Mont-de-l&#8217;Enclus.<\/p>\n<p>The Norwegian rider, who was the only member of the late-race breakaway still ahead of the peloton, held off a charging field and crossed the finish line by a whisker ahead of Corbin Strong (Israel-Premier Tech) and Eduard Prades (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA).<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"f6b9ca95-70b6-4005-a2fc-d16bbe659cd9-2\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">Abrahamsen was part of a three-rider breakaway that formed in the closing kilometres of the race, who were later joined by four more riders who had bridged across. Marchand picked up full points over the Col de la Crouis Jubaru and C\u00f4te du Trieu-Knokteberg. Meanwhile, Portsmouth won the intermediate sprint on offer in Spiere and on the third passage of the finish line.<\/p>\n<p>Alpecin-Deceuninck and Israel-Premier Tech did the lion&#8217;s share of the work at the front of the peloton, slashing the gap to just under a minute with 80km remaining.<\/p>\n<p>As the peloton closed in on the breakaway, Alexys Brunel (TotalEnergies) attempted to bridge the gap.
