In 2024, 31.6 million people were employed in the EU<\/a> due to the final use of goods and services by non-EU economies, representing 14.4% of total EU employment. This marks a substantial increase since 2010, when 22.6 million people were employed for this purpose, accounting for 11.5% of total employment. \u00a0<\/p>\n

The EU gross value added generated by the final use of products abroad also rose between 2010 and 2024. The domestic value added in foreign final use stood at \u20ac1.3 trillion in 2010, while it reached \u20ac2.8 trillion in 2024. The share increased from 13.3% to 17.2% of the total EU gross value added.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In 2024, trade with the United States had the highest impact on EU employment and value added, supporting the jobs of 6.0 million EU workers \u2013 or 19.1% of the total employment created by foreign final use of goods and services \u2013 and generating \u20ac585.8 billion of value added in the EU (21.0%).<\/p>\n

The United Kingdom ranked second for employment with 3.4 million (10.6%) EU workers and third for EU value added in foreign final use, with \u20ac276.0 billion (9.9%). Meanwhile, China came third for employment with 3.1 million EU workers (9.8%) and second for EU value added with \u20ac289.8 billion (10.4%).<\/p>\n
