The golfer crowned winner of The Open Championship later today will receive a total prize of \u00a32.4m. The world’s top golfing talent<\/a> will complete their final rounds later today, Sunday, at the Royal Birkdale course<\/a> but only one will lift the claret jug.<\/p>\n

The winner of The Open Championship<\/a> 2026<\/a> will also take home a huge cash prize of \u00a32.4m – an increase of \u00a374,600 from last year’s tournament at Royal Portrush. Meanwhile the man who finishes second will earn \u00a31,373,800 and the golfer in third will bring home \u00a3880,800. A top-seven finish guarantees a prize north of \u00a3372,900.<\/p>\n

However, prize money at The Open is only awarded to professional players. A 70th place finish is still worth around \u00a330,400, while pros who fail to make the cut but finish in the top 10 places below the cut line will still earn \u00a39,600.<\/p>\n

American Sam Burns currently leads on -10 and has a two shot lead going into the final round. Hometown boy Tommy Fleetwood, from Southport<\/a>, remains in touching distance of the leaders on -5.<\/p>\n
