This weekend, Errol Spence Jr returns to the ring after three years out to face a fellow former world champion in Tim Tszyu. Boxing icon Roy Jones Jr has weighed in with his fight week prediction.<\/p>\n

Spence has been inactive since a comprehensive 2023 defeat at the hands of Terence Crawford<\/a>. As time passed, many fans assumed that he had quietly retired from the sport.<\/p>\n

He has now booked a comeback against Tszyu, who has remained active but suffered bruising defeats to Sebastian Fundora and Bakhram Murtazaliev in recent years.<\/p>\n

Speaking to FightHype<\/a>, Jones \u2013 who has visited Spence in training ahead of this return \u2013 backed the American to win, praising his engine.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s going to be a slugfest. Man, it\u2019s a hard call, but I\u2019m going with Errol to withstand the onslaught that Tszyu gonna put on early. If he gets past four, five rounds, Errol definitely gonna beat him. To me, Errol is stronger later than anybody fighting. You get him past round six and you\u2019ve got a problem on your hands, especially if he ain\u2019t beat up or anything in the face, because that\u2019s when he starts to come alive.\u201d<\/p>\n

The fight was originally set at a 158lbs catchweight, but a late request from Spence\u2019s side to move it up to the middleweight limit of 160 was accommodated by Tszyu.<\/a><\/p>\n

It tops the bill this Saturday, July 25, at Afterpay Arena in Sydney, Australia, and is promoted by PBC in association with No Limit Boxing.
