Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain<\/a> has criticized Bruce Springsteen for using his platform to share his political views<\/a>, saying he is tired of entertainers \u201cpreaching\u201d their beliefs to fans.<\/p>\n

The 76-year-old musician, who has frequently spoken about his conservative views<\/a> and support for President Donald Trump, made the comments during a recent podcast appearance.<\/p>\n

\u201cI used to be a Democrat back in the old days, but I couldn\u2019t go there anymore, you know? I\u2019m a diehard conservative,\u201d Cain said on an episode of Tom Barnard\u2019s Complete Disaster Network podcast. \u201cAnd guys like Bruce Springsteen should shut up. You know, really, honestly, shut up, Bruce, you know?\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that Robert De Niro <\/a>is another celebrity who he thinks should just \u201cshut up.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, who cares, guys?\u201d he said. \u201cDo your art. I try to keep politics out of my music.\u201d<\/p>\n

Springsteen<\/a> has repeatedly criticized Trump in on-stage speeches during his recent Land of Hope & Dreams American Tour, and even kicked off the tour in Minneapolis in April to honor the city\u2019s anti-ICE protests. <\/a>The \u201cDancing In The Dark\u201d singer did not immediately return The Independent\u2019s request for comment on Cain\u2019s remarks.<\/p>\n

Cain, who has played with Journey for more than 45 years, is married to televangelist Paula White-Cain, <\/a>who serves as Trump\u2019s spiritual adviser.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, people say, \u2018Well, you\u2019re a Christian and you\u2019re conservative,\u2019 and I\u2019m like, \u2018So what?\u2019 I don\u2019t preach it on stage. I don\u2019t spend 10 minutes talking about it,\u2019\u201d he insisted. \u201cAnd Bruce, I mean, what the heck? I used to like him, and now he\u2019s just annoying. He\u2019s an annoying, bitter old man. I mean, stop it. Really. You were born in the USA, weren\u2019t you, dude? So act like it.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added about Springsteen\u2019s hit \u201cBorn in the USA\u201d: \u201cBut even that song, if you look at the lyrics, I mean, it\u2019s a kind of a diss toward our country.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cain went on to compare the song to his new single, saying, \u201cI\u2019m releasing this patriotic song because I\u2019m a diehard patriot, like Ted Nugent, who\u2019s my friend. We\u2019re a couple of patriots \u2014 we love our flag and we love our nation, and we grew up that way.\u201d <\/p>\n

The rock star said that he, Nugent and singer Kid Rock might be considered \u201cunicorns\u201d as conservatives in the rock scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cMe and Kid Rock, we\u2019re probably on an island,\u201d he said. \u201cThere\u2019s a few of us, and I proudly stand there with my flag on that island.
