On Monday night, Seth Meyers<\/a> discussed Donald Trump<\/a> getting booed at this weekend\u2019s World Cup<\/a> final, confusion over the Iran<\/a> war and the mystery surrounding Mitch McConnell<\/a>\u2019s health.<\/p>\n

On his NBC show, Meyers pointed out the irony of the US president celebrating with the Spanish football team after they won the World Cup<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cLately he\u2019s [been] in an especially tense relationship with Spain,\u201d the host said. \u201cHe\u2019s mad at them because they won\u2019t support his pointless war with Iran.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

In a meeting with the Nato<\/a> secretary general earlier this month, Trump called Spain a \u201cterrible partner in Nato\u201d, adding: \u201cI don\u2019t want anything to do with Spain. Cut off all trade with Spain, please.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Spain\u2019s victory at the Fifa tournament on Sunday, Trump stepped on to the podium alongside the team at New Jersey\u2019s MetLife Stadium and cheered them on.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re surprised he\u2019s up there, you forgot the first rule of Trump, which is: everything goes out of the window if gold is around.<\/p>\n

\u201cLess than a month ago he said no more visits from Spain, and now Spain is in America holding the world\u2019s most coveted trophy while Trump stands next to them like Forrest Gump<\/a> during the history montage.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meyers pointed out that Trump was not supposed to be up there with the winners, with the Fifa president, Gianni Infantino, running over and attempting to guide Trump off the podium.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe head of the most corrupt organization on Earth was, like, \u2018This is a bad look,\u2019\u201d laughed Meyers.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut Trump insisted on standing there, either because he wanted the attention or he forgot where he was because he\u2019s 80 and his brain is smoother than a soccer ball.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spain\u2019s captain, Rodrigo Hern\u00e1ndez Cascante, better known as Rodri, also seemed to be trying to usher Trump offstage. \u201cOK grandpa, time for bed!\u201d quipped Meyers.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like being at a house party in high school, getting ready to cheer a buddy on for a keg stand, and then your weirdest neighbor walks into the house,\u201d said the host.<\/p>\n

Trump was booed at the football match with the crowd shouting and jeering as he stepped on to the field for the trophy presentation after the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt this point, I\u2019m guessing Trump\u2019s staff tries to make him feel better by telling him he\u2019s just being followed around by ghosts,\u201d Meyers said, before impersonating an aide: \u201c\u2018Mr President, remember that no one\u2019s booing you: that\u2019s just Mitch McConnell<\/a> saying hello.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just kidding, Mitch McConnell is definitely alive,\u201d he continued. \u201cThey always make you stay in the hospital an extra week after you put your jeans on.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt sucks that he had to show up and put his stink on another event that was otherwise bringing New Yorkers together, Meyers said, referencing Trump\u2019s recent appearance<\/a> at the NBA finals. \u201cThey\u2019re gonna have to sage MetLife Stadium to get the hex out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ahead of the game, Trump predicted an Argentina victory saying that it was hard to bet against Lionel Messi<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrump\u2019s sports curse strikes again,\u201d said Meyers. \u201cHe goes to the NBA finals, the Knicks lose. He intervenes to get a red card overturned, USA loses.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe says you can\u2019t bet against Messi, Argentina loses. He owned a USFL team, and the whole fucking league folded. He\u2019s a sports reaper.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump continues to claim that the US has won the war in Iran despite the conflict continuing in the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, the opposite is happening,\u201d Meyers said. \u201cThe Iran war only seems to be spiralling further out of control.\u201d<\/p>\n
