Teenage Fanclub<\/a> have announced new album \u2018Do Not Dare To Dream\u2019. Check out the laid-back single \u2018Day In The Sun\u2019 below.<\/p>\n

The new record marks the 13th from the indie giants, and the first from them since 2023\u2019s \u2018Nothing Lasts Forever\u2019. It is set for release on October 9 via Merge, and available to pre-order here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Arriving decades on from their formation in 1989, the new album sees the band work to push their style of melodic guitars, eye-catching harmonies, and introspective songwriting into new directions.<\/p>\n

As well as announcing the LP, the band have also dropped a taster in the form of new single \u2018Day In The Sun\u2019 \u2013 a relaxed track that centres on themes of renewal and embracing a new outlook. Check it out below, alongside a video directed by Donald Milne.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

For the album as a whole, Teenage Fanclub explores how hollow optimism feels \u201cridiculous\u201d, and retaliates against empty words of encouragement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose \u2018dare to dream\u2019 sentiments are kind of ridiculous,\u201d singer Norman Blake said, \u201cI don\u2019t think the world works that way.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can still be cheerful and optimistic in the face of things not being great,\u201d added Raymond McGinley.<\/p>\n

The album sees them joined by longtime members Euros Childs, Francis Macdonald and David McGowan, and was written as the musicians all embraced being in the studio together, without obsessively perfecting arrangements ahead of time.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think what happens is you just move from one thing into the next and before you know it, 30 years have passed,\u201d Blake shared.<\/p>\n

McGinley added: \u201cYeah, it\u2019s been a while since we started doing this thing we do, but to us it feels like no time at all. In the place where we made the record people would have been singing thousands of years ago. Life is short, but music is eternal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Blake joined up with ex-Suede member Bernard Butler and James Grant<\/a> for a supergroup, and announced the new album \u2018Murmurs\u2019 with the single \u2018Lonely Night\u2019<\/a>.
