{"id":707148,"date":"2026-07-23T13:54:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T13:54:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/707148\/"},"modified":"2026-07-23T13:54:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-23T13:54:08","slug":"rob-jones-to-retire-from-professional-cricket-at-the-end-of-the-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/707148\/","title":{"rendered":"Rob Jones to retire from professional cricket at the end of the season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Before joining the Pears, Rob enjoyed a fine seven-year spell with Lancashire, where the batter made 109 appearances across all-formats, playing a key role in the side\u2019s 2019 County Championship Division Two title victory.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on his playing career, Rob looked back with fondness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m immensely proud of playing 159 games and 11 seasons of professional cricket for both Worcestershire and Lancashire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve had some incredible memories with the Pears and with the Red Rose, ones I\u2019ll cherish forever.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been a pleasure to represent both clubs, and I feel lucky to have met some amazing people, lifelong friends along the way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel very privileged to have played with the world\u2019s best.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t thank everyone enough that\u2019s played a part in my career but want to thank my family and my wife Kerry who have been the most supportive people on my journey.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to the next chapter of my life.
