As the expected launch of Apple’s first foldable iPhone<\/a> nears, the shipment dates are still up in the air, with supply chain sources saying some plans need to be finalized before full mass production can begin. <\/p>\n

Apple’s plans for the iPhone Ultra have been a hot-button topic in recent months. Just days ago, it was reported that Apple had increased its orders<\/a> for the vapor cooling system that would be used in its debut foldable. <\/p>\n

Despite that news, rumors of a potential delay<\/a> have been commonplace. More recently, a report from July 2026 sought to ease fears<\/a> that Apple would miss its fall release window. <\/p>\n

Now, a DigiTimes report<\/a> claims that the iPhone Ultra’s launch is once more in question, with assembler Foxconn still making “adjustments” to its mass production plans. <\/p>\n

Dueling reports of a planned fall launch and impending delay have made it difficult to know what to expect. Now, the supply chain watchers at DigiTimes have thrown another spanner in the works. <\/p>\n

It’s reported that Foxconn has been chosen as the company to move the iPhone Ultra into mass production. But it also notes that the required engineering validation process could cause a delay of up to two months. The report cites the foldable display and hinge as key issues to be dealt with. <\/p>\n

Ultimately, it seems likely that Apple will still announce the iPhone Ultra alongside the iPhone 18<\/a> Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September. <\/p>\n

The big question, however, is whether the iPhone Ultra will ship alongside those models or trail them. An October or November on-sale date<\/a> has been suggested before, of course. <\/p>\n
