Update #3 [Fri 24th Jul 2026, 2:35pm]: Amazon Web Services say it\u2019s resolved all issues with its services<\/a>, which means the PSN should come back online imminently.<\/p>\n

At the time of this update, I\u2019m still experiencing a variety of issues across the whole network. While my recently played games had returned, they\u2019re now gone again. I was also able to temporarily see my friends list, but can\u2019t again now.<\/p>\n

There are signs things are improving as the PS Store<\/a> is now accessible, although clicking on any content brings up the error message \u2018Content Can\u2019t Be Found\u2019.<\/p>\n

Across the Push Square<\/a> team, we\u2019re all seeing various different stages of improvement and recovery.<\/p>\n

I\u2019d expect things to slowly resolve over the next hour or so, but will continue monitoring the situation and will update when appropriate.<\/p>\n

Sony\u2019s service page<\/a> still says everything is \u201cup and running\u201d, which is simply not true \u2013 even if there are now signs of life.<\/p>\n

Update #2 [Fri 24th Jul 2026, 1:40pm]: Amazon Web Services, the likely culprit behind the ongoing PSN downtime, has issued a statement<\/a> on its ongoing recovery efforts.<\/p>\n

It seems it expects functionality to be fully restored shortly, although it\u2019ll take a little more time.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what it said:<\/p>\n

As routes continue to be restored, customers should see a continued reduction in error rates and timeouts when connecting to affected services. We are monitoring recovery progress closely and will continue working until all routes have been fully restored and service metrics return to pre-event levels. We will provide another update in the next 30-45 minutes.<\/p>\n

Functionality is definitely improving, so we should see service return to normal within the next hour or two.<\/p>\n

Update #1 [Fri 24th Jul 2026, 1:10pm]: After an outage which knocked almost all PSN features offline, the service is seemingly beginning to recover.<\/p>\n

It looks like Amazon Web Services \u2013 which powers a lot of the PSN \u2013 had a hiccup earlier today<\/a>, resulting in widespread issues around the world.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll continue to monitor the situation, but AWS has acknowledged the issues, and has said services are slowly returning to normal.<\/p>\n

While your mileage may vary, I\u2019m able to see my friends list again, but features like the PS Store<\/a> still seem broken on my end.<\/p>\n

Sony has yet to acknowledge any issues on its service page<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Original Story: PSN appears to be struggling globally, with Sony\u2019s official status page<\/a> saying \u201call services are up and running\u201d.<\/p>\n

Down Detector<\/a> shows a huge spike in reports over the past few hours in the US, which is gradually easing. In the UK, more reports are coming in as time passes.<\/p>\n

From my end, the entire network is down, including even game downloads and the PS App.<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t see my most recently played games, Trophies, or browse my friends list or connect to game servers.<\/p>\n

Chatting with the rest of the Push Square<\/a> team, we\u2019re all experiencing issues \u2013 although our mileage varies.<\/p>\n

Some of us can\u2019t even verify our game licenses to play digital games \u2013 not exactly ideal in this non-physical era Sony\u2019s trying to force us into.<\/p>\n

Others are able to at least see their recently played games, but the PS Store<\/a> is mostly broken. It seems like even the web-based PS Store is offline<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Marvel Tokon<\/a> beta \u2013 out today<\/a> \u2013 is showing a \u2018Network Error\u2019 on PS5.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll continue to monitor the situation and contact Sony for an update.
