A council in Surrey has apologised for disruption to rubbish, recycling and food waste collections and agreed a \u00a3160,000 package of support with its contractor.<\/p>\n
Tandridge District Council has told residents it may take time for waste collection services to recover from the disruption and said it understood people’s frustration.<\/p>\n
Additional measures agreed with waste firm Biffa include staffing support, workforce stability initiatives and an extra vehicle to help recycling collections, the council said.<\/p>\n
The local authority said the aim was to strengthen the resilience of waste and recycling services up to April 2027. <\/p>\n
A statement issued by the council, which covers towns including Oxted, Caterham, Lingfield and Warlingham, said: “The additional measures have only recently been agreed and it will take time for their full benefits to be felt across the service.<\/p>\n
“In the meantime, some collections may continue to be affected as the service recovers and stabilises.”<\/p>\n
The council thanked residents for their continued patience and understanding, the statement said, adding: “The council and Biffa remain committed to restoring a reliable service and reducing the risk of future disruption.”<\/p>\n
