News on this matter hints that the 2026 Mate phones can bring an advanced 3D face recognition.

Apple and Huawei are the two main brands to offer a 3D facial recognition setup with their flagship handsets. While Honor is also a key player in this segment, the first two vendors are eagerly working on the next-generation under-screen technology.

Earlier reports implied that Huawei will unveil an in-display camera phone before Apple. While many of us expected to see this innovation with the Mate 80 series smartphones, the company launched the lineup with the normal three-punch-hole design.

Huawei to bring in-display 3D face recognition earlier than Apple, but not with Mate 80?

Now leaks have once again surrounded Huawei over the in-display 3D camera phone, and it seems the company will answer this question with the Mate 90 series.

A recent leak suggested that the high-end Mate 90 variants could introduce the under-screen 3D facial recognition system. While the 3D ToF is itself a big implementation on the Mate phones, Huawei plans to take this feature to the next level.

In-display 3D Facial Recognition is an advanced and more secure alternative to the normal face biometric security feature. It provides a more secure and detailed mapping of the face, including facial expressions, lines, ridges, and more.

On the greener side, under-screen 3D face recognition eliminates visible cutouts and notches. It is spoof-resistant and delivers fast security authentication, unlike traditional biometric features.

It is worth noting that Huawei hasn’t confirmed any such functionality for the Mate 90 series yet. But the company has been developing this tech solution for a couple of years. Hence, it may use the capability with the 2026 Mate models.

Huawei in-display camera phone ambitions are once again taking off in the leaks segment, and the Mate 90…

[16
2306,86,56,54,55
post-710738","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-mobile","tag-mobile","tag-technology","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom
["GET
