Archive)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  A 1927 photo shows the Prince of Wales having just struck a golf ball from a tee in front of a line of dignitaries, including Mayor Ellison.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img An early 20th century Furness Railway poster promoting golf, with the right-hand side devoted to a map showing courses in and around the area served by the line, provides an insight into the pastime.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The left side and top of the design boldly proclaim the railway\u2019s name, alongside a stylised image of a player driving off from a tee.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img first tee, with the rear of several Southport Drive homes visible to the left.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Central Drive curves away to the right, its semi-detached houses marked out by low front garden walls and
