Brandon Williams will spend at least one year with Championship side Hull City.<\/p>\n

It has been a difficult past 20 months for Brandon Williams<\/a>, who was once tipped to have a future at Manchester United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The left-back appeared 51 times for the senior team after emerging through United\u2019s academy<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Williams was eventually released by United and has since struggled to find a way back into football.<\/p>\n

In May, Williams received a suspended 14-month jail term, suspended for two years, after a near-100mph crash in Cheshire.<\/p>\n

Hull City gave Williams a trial to prove himself<\/a> earlier this summer, and he played in friendly games against Sunderland and La Liga side Getafe.<\/p>\n

The main objective for Williams was to find a new club before the new season and he has done exactly that.<\/p>\n

Following a successful trial at Hull City<\/a>, Williams has signed a one-year contract with an option to extend for a further 12 months.<\/p>\n

It had been over 20 months since Williams played a competitive game whilst on loan at Ipswich Town during the 2023\/24 season.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old said it has been a tough road back to the professional ranks after being out of top-level sport.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt feels good to be back in the team environment and back on the pitch,\u201d\u00a0Williams told the Hull City website<\/a>. \u201cEveryone has been very welcoming. It\u2019s been a good few weeks but I\u2019m just happy I\u2019m here now and can focus on the football.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had a couple of very honest meetings with the manager. We know it\u2019s going to be a process to get fully back up to speed, having that time out. It had been 20 months since I played or was involved with a team.<\/p>\n

\u201cI appreciated the manager\u2019s honesty. Now, it\u2019s down to me to work hard and get as many games as I can.\u201d<\/p>\n

Williams believes he has grown up<\/p>\n

Williams is still young and has time on his side to turn his career around.<\/p>\n

Now, he has the opportunity to do that, it\u2019s up to Williams to prove that he has grown up since his time at United.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cIt was very difficult [taking a break from football] \u2013 mentally and physically. It\u2019s been a long road back, but probably something I needed. Now, I\u2019m back here a different person.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve grown up a lot and I\u2019m ready to just focus on the football. I\u2019ve missed it. I\u2019m hungry, I\u2019m fiery. I know what quality I can bring to the team.
