{"id":712862,"date":"2026-07-27T01:59:17","date_gmt":"2026-07-27T01:59:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/712862\/"},"modified":"2026-07-27T01:59:17","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T01:59:17","slug":"kilmarnock-sell-left-back-dominic-thompson-to-beveren","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/712862\/","title":{"rendered":"Kilmarnock sell left-back Dominic Thompson to Beveren"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Kilmarnock have sold left-back Dominic Thompson to Belgian top-flight club Beveren.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The 25-year-old Englishman, who has signed a two-year contract with the side who won the Challenger Pro League to earn promotion last season, joined Kilmarnock from Scottish Premiership rivals Motherwell last summer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He had initially signed a one-year contract at Rugby Park but subsequently agreed an extension during last season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Thompson told Beveren&#8217;s website he was pleased to join a team that &#8220;comes into this with a lot of confidence after an incredible unbeaten season&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Thompson made 41 appearances for Kilmarnock, 30 of them starts, but was a substitute for the final four games as new manager Neil McCann steered his side clear of relegation trouble.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He scored once and provided five assists.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The Londoner started his career with Brentford and played for Swindon Town, Ipswich Town, Blackpool and Forest Green Rovers before joining Motherwell in January 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Beveren general manager Sports Bob Peeters added: &#8220;He is an explosive and athletic player with strong footballing qualities. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;With his speed and intensity, he can provide extra impetus on our left flank.
