Meghan Markle<\/a> was delighted when her husband Prince Harry<\/a> surprised her with a phone call during her appearance on Masterchef<\/a> Australia. <\/p>\n

The Duchess of Sussex<\/a>, 44, made her show debut down under, serving as a guest judge on the Australian edition of the popular cooking competition. <\/p>\n

Meghan was revealed to the contestants as the \u201cmystery guest judge\u201d who would be filling in for Andy Allen as he went on paternity leave. <\/p>\n

The aspiring chefs appeared visibly shocked when Meghan walked into the MasterChef kitchen, with one stating: \u201cWho would have thought you come on here to make a roll, and you get to meet the Duchess of Sussex?\u201d<\/p>\n

The judging of the dishes, however, was interrupted by a surprise phone call to the studio from Prince Harry. <\/p>\n

\u201cHi my love!\u201d Meghan said to the phone camera, telling the crew: \u201cMy husband\u2019s here.\u201d After introducing the royal to the contestants, Prince Harry can be heard saying: \u201cHave I interrupted something important?\u201d<\/p>\n

Meghan took the time to introduce the \u201cfour incredible cooks\u201d and their \u201camazing\u201d dishes, singling out one of their homemade sambals before joking: \u201cI think it might be too much for you, though! Too spicy.\u201d <\/p>\n

Prince Harry commended the show\u2019s team on their set decor, prompting judge Poh Ling Yeow to respond: \u201cWe fancied the joint up for your beautiful wife.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat you guys have. Wonderful,\u201d said the royal, who was in Canberra at the time visiting with veterans. <\/p>\n

\u201cEnjoy it!\u201d he told his wife before signing off: \u201cVery sorry to disturb you.\u201d After the call ended, Meghan lovingly called her husband \u201ca charmer\u201d. <\/p>\n

Elsewhere during the programme, Meghan spoke about the difference between her taste in food and her husband\u2019s. <\/p>\n

Cooking at home means she \u201chas a lot of palettes to appease,\u201d she said, noting that Harry likes a lot of \u201cmeat, potatoes and cream sauce\u201d while she prefers \u201cfish, grilled meats, and lots of citrus\u201d. <\/p>\n

Meghan was pleased, however, to reveal that their children \u2013\u00a0Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five \u2013 are, in fact, fans of Brussels sprouts. <\/p>\n

When asked how she wanted to be addressed during her time on the show,she told the judges to call her \u201cMeghan\u201d instead of her royal title. <\/p>\n

Broadcast on Australia\u2019s Network 10 on Sunday (26 July), the episode saw contestants tasked with cooking a dish \u201cfit for a Duchess\u201d using Meghan\u2019s favourite seasonal ingredients, including macadamia nuts, citrus, honey, and Brussels sprouts. The episode was filmed back in April when Meghan and Harry were on a four-day tour of Australia.<\/p>\n

Announcing her participation in the show, Meghan said that it was \u201can easy yes\u201d because of \u201ctwo things: my love of food and my love of Australia\u201d. <\/p>\n
