The decision was made against the backdrop of ongoing talks between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, which are about to begin in Anchorage, Alaska.<\/p>\n
Trump stated that he would not be satisfied if the meeting did not result in an agreement on a ceasefire: “I want to see a ceasefire rapidly… I want the killing to stop..”<\/p>\n
UK Defense Secretary John Healey emphasized that in the event of an attack on British troops in Ukraine, they would respond. This would mark a significant increase in London’s involvement in supporting Kyiv as part of the Coalition of the Willing initiative, which British and European allies have been working on for several months.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Lithuanian President Gitanas Naus\u0117da stressed that countries joining the Coalition of the Willing must be ready to send their troops to ensure security in Ukraine<\/a>. According to him, Lithuania is also ready to contribute.<\/p>\n
