However, its newest status update suggested that the project has once again been delayed.<\/p>\n<p>What is the new update for the Tomb Raider TV show?<\/p>\n<p>According to Production Weekly, filming on the upcoming live-action series adaptation of Tomb Raider has reportedly been delayed to the first quarter of 2026, nearly two years after the project was first announced. Prior to this, previous reports claimed that Phoebe Waller-Bridge\u2019s adaptation was experiencing a delay due to creative setbacks involving its script.<\/p>\n<p>Even though the studio has made official announcements about its cast, it was previously reported that Game of Thrones alum\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.comingsoon.net\/tv\/news\/1878750-tomb-raider-lara-croft-amazon-phoebe-waller-bridge\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sophie Turner<\/a>\u00a0was in negotiations to portray the leading role of Lara Croft last November 2024. Further details about its plot and characters are still being kept under wraps, but it was initially described as an epic globe-trotting adventure.<\/p>\n<p>This marks the latest live-action adaptation of Crystal Dynamics\u2019 hit video game series, following Angelina Jolie\u2019s popular Lara Croft: Tomb Raider movies, and Alicia Vikander\u2019s 2018 remake. As part of her overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios, Waller-Bridge had signed on to serve as the project\u2019s writer and executive producer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I could tell my teenage self this was happening I think she\u2019d explode,\u201d Waller-Bridge said in a previous statement when the series was officially announced. \u201cTomb Raider\u00a0has been a huge part of my life and I feel incredibly privileged to be bringing it to television with such passionate collaborators. Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can\u2019t wait to go on this adventure.
