\n North Cheshire and Mersey NHS Foundation Trust (NCM) is preparing to use the Robotic Surgical Assistant (ROSA) as part of its orthopaedic services.\n<\/p>\n
\n ROSA provides surgeons with detailed information about a patient\u2019s knee anatomy, supporting more precise planning and implant placement.\n<\/p>\n
\n Gareth Stables, consultant orthopaedic surgeon at NCM, said: “No two knees are exactly the same, and that is what makes this system valuable.\n<\/p>\n
\n “It gives us another layer of information during an operation, so we can plan and position the implant with greater confidence.\n<\/p>\n
\n “For someone having knee replacement surgery, the aim is to get them moving well again and back to everyday life.\n<\/p>\n
\n “This approach allows us to tailor the operation more closely to their anatomy, which is a significant step for our service.\n<\/p>\n
\n “This is an exciting development for our patients and our surgical teams, and the first cases are expected to take place in September.”\n<\/p>\n
\n ROSA creates a 3D model of the knee and delivers live measurements during surgery.\n<\/p>\n
\n The technology acts as a surgical assistant, providing information and guidance throughout the procedure while the consultant remains in control.\n<\/p>\n
\n NCM will become one of the first NHS trusts in the North West to use ROSA.\n<\/p>\n
\n The move will enable patients in Cheshire and Merseyside to access advanced treatment closer to home.\n<\/p>\n
