\n The UTC neighbours A&E and treats patients with ailments or injuries that are not life threatening or an emergency but need urgent attention.\n<\/p>\n
\n As well as four hour wait performance, NCIC is making improvements in its efforts to reduce 12 hour waits at A&E.\n<\/p>\n
\n Patients waiting 12 hours across North Cumbria A&E departments fell (an improvement) to 10.4 per cent in May, compared to 12 per cent in April.\n<\/p>\n
\n Although this did not NCIC’s 9.1 per cent operational target it means the trust continues to beat the 5.6 per cent average across the region and the national median of 9.7 per cent.\n<\/p>\n
\n NCIC directors expect to see “significant improvement” in 12 hour waits following the full opening of the UTC in June, with month-to-date performance up to 6.7 per cent.\n<\/p>\n
