{"id":717208,"date":"2026-07-29T12:09:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-29T12:09:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/717208\/"},"modified":"2026-07-29T12:09:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-29T12:09:08","slug":"buck-moon-lights-up-devon-and-cornwall-skies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/717208\/","title":{"rendered":"Buck Moon lights up Devon and Cornwall skies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The July full Moon lit up the night skies across Devon and Cornwall on Tuesday night. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It is known as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/weather\/articles\/cx2lvg855x8o\" class=\"ssrcss-1e0jzsh-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Buck Moon<\/a>, getting its name from the time of year when male deer, or bucks, rapidly grow a new set of antlers and is expected to peak at 15:36 BST on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The Royal Observatory in Greenwich refers to this Moon as the Thunder Moon, due to the summer storms that often happen in this month, and it has also been named the Hay Moon after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rmg.co.uk\/stories\/space-astronomy\/what-are-names-full-moons-throughout-year\" class=\"ssrcss-1e0jzsh-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the July hay harvest, external<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Forecasters said it was likely people hoping to catch a glimpse of the moon on Wednesday night will be able to see it because of the clear skies predicted after dark.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Some Weather Watchers members from Devon and Cornwall caught the moon on camera on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The July full Moon lit up the night skies across Devon and Cornwall on Tuesday night.
