The teenage son of a Grand Final winner and former Great Britain star has signed a contract extension with Leeds Rhinos.<\/p>\n

Hooker Joe Diskin\u2019s previous deal was due to expire this autumn, but he is now committed to Rhinos until the end of 2028.<\/p>\n

The 19-year-old is a member of Rhinos\u2019 full-time squad, but has yet to make his Betfred Super League debut.<\/p>\n

A former Dewsbury Moor junior he progressed through Rhinos\u2019 scholarship and academy to the reserves and has first team experience in the Championship on loan at London Broncos, Keighley Cougars and Hunslet.<\/p>\n

Initially a full- back, he now plays the role his father Matt Diskin starred in for the club during four Grand Final triumphs during the 2000s, including the 2004 Old Trafford success against Bradford Bulls when he was man of the match.<\/p>\n

Diskin, who is currently recovering from shoulder surgery, said: \u201cI am really pleased to have agreed an extension with the club.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously the Rhinos has been a huge part of my life, firstly through my dad, but then having joined the club in the scholarship and come through the academy and the reserves.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to thank all the coaches who have worked with me and helped me develop.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was disappointing to pick up the shoulder injury, especially as we have a great group of lads in the reserves who I was enjoying playing with, but I am a few weeks post-surgery now and things are going well. I am looking forward to being back on the field.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rhinos transition-coach Chev Walker added: \u201cJoe has worked hard on developing his game, having moved from full-back to hooker.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately he is currently injured, but he will be fully supported by the club to get back to his best and I am sure he will get the opportunity to make even more progress in pre-season this year with the first team squad.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is a popular member of our group and it is good news he will be here for the next two years at least.\u201d<\/p>\n
