An actor who worked with Boy George<\/a> on the Broadway production of Moulin Rouge! has criticised the singer\u2019s acting.<\/p>\n

The Culture Club<\/a> frontman played Harold Zidler in the show, an adaptation of Baz Luhrmann\u2019s<\/a> 2001 musical film, on the Broadway stage last year. He made headlines recently by admitting his controversial pro-Israel song, \u2018We Will Dance Again\u2019 was made using generative AI.<\/a><\/p>\n

Patrick Clanton, who appeared in the show with Boy George, took to Instagram to make his feelings about the singer known. Sharing a news report about the AI song, he wrote \u201cY\u2019know, I used to defend his performance in our show, but fuck it. He was a terrible performer and I was embarrassed to be in the show with him. Boy, Bye!\u201d<\/p>\n

He followed that up by writing: \u201cWhenever people would ask about him I\u2019d just say \u2018He was really nice!\u2019 But as Sondheim taught us, \u2018Nice is different than good.\u2019\u201d The final quote is a line from the Sondheim musical Into The Woods. \u2018We Will Dance Again\u2019 is a defence of Israel\u2019s military action in Gaza, opening with the line \u201cYou say genocide, I say war\u201d and describing pro-Palestine artists as \u201csheep\u201d in its lyrics. Boy George discussed the song on Threads<\/a>, writing: \u201cAs imperfect as it is! The song was created using AI. I call it \u2018AI for good\u2019. Truthfully, I would struggle to write this with a human!\u201d<\/p>\n

A\u00a0United Nations Commission<\/a>\u00a0concluded last year that Israel had committed genocide against Palestinians in\u00a0Gaza, and\u00a0said last month that genocidal acts were continuing through attacks targeting children.\u00a0Amnesty International<\/a>\u00a0also concluded that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.<\/p>\n

Israel has repeatedly denied committing genocide or war crimes, maintaining that its military campaign is an act of self-defence following October 7. It also rejected the UN findings as \u201cdistorted and false\u201d and a \u201clibellous sham\u201d.<\/p>\n
