Island residents are being asked to help name the new MRI scanning suite currently under development at the Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway.<\/p>\n

Set to become operational in September, NHS Western Isles is seeking suggestions for a name that \u201creflects the unique identity, heritage and spirit of the islands.\u201d<\/p>\n
NHS Western Isles Chief Executive, Gordon Jamieson, explains: \u201cThe new MRI suite is an important milestone for healthcare in the Western Isles, and we want our communities to feel a real sense of ownership and pride in this facility.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know there is tremendous creativity across the islands and we look forward to seeing the suggestions that come forward. Whether inspired by our landscape, language, culture or history, we encourage everyone to get involved and help us choose a name that captures the spirit of the Western Isles.\u201d<\/p>\n
The competition is open to locals of all ages with entries welcomed from individuals, families, schools, community groups and organisations.<\/p>\n
Entries should include the suggested name together with a brief explanation of why it has been chosen.<\/p>\n
A panel will review all submissions and select a name that best reflects the values and character of the Western Isles community.<\/p>\n
