Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson\u2019s \u201cWicker,\u201d starring Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsg\u00e5rd, was acquired by Black Bear and now has a <a href=\"https:\/\/youtube.com\/watch?v=UVAki9SGrlg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">trailer.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\" style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Also starring Elizabeth Debicki, Peter Dinklage, and Marli Siu\u2014not to mention Oscar-winning cinematographer Lol Crawley (The Brutalist) serving as DP\u2014the film garnered positive reviews at Sundance and currently holds a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.metacritic.com\/movie\/wicker\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">70 on Metacritic<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/wicker\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">95% on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\" style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">It looks fun. Colman tends to elevate whatever she\u2019s in. I like Debicki, Dinklage and Skarsg\u00e5rd. Hopefully, we have an original treat in our hands. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\" style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Based on Ursula Wills\u2019 short story \u201cThe Wicker Husband,\u201d Colman plays a lonely fisherwoman in a feudal\u2011like fantasy world who commissions a straw husband from a local basketmaker (Dinklage). Through magic and a Weta Workshop\u2013crafted costume, her wish brings to life a dashing woven companion (Skarsg\u00e5rd), whose devotion sparks both romance and jealousy, threatening the village\u2019s fragile social order. Skarsgard<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\" style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Skarsg\u00e5rd on <a href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/alexander-skarsgard-nipples-wicker-trailer-exclusive-12030562\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">taking the role<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\" style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">\u201cMost male actors dream of playing Hamlet at some point in their career. I never did. My dream was always to have nipples made out of wicker. Thanks to our wonderful directors, Eleanor and Alex, and the brilliant artists at W\u0113t\u0101 in New Zealand, my dream has finally come true.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\" style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">No word yet on how much Black Bear paid to acquire \u201cWicker,\u201d but it likely wasn\u2019t a huge sum. The biggest deals from this past January\u2019s Sundance Film Festival were \u201cThe Invite\u201d (A24, $12M) and \u201cJosephine\u201d (Sumerian Pictures, $6\u20137\u202fM).<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\" style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">\u201cWicker\u201d hits theaters on October 30.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Here\u2019s a Sundance 2026 title.
