Rachel Chinouriri<\/a> has announced the new album \u2018I Think I Spoke Too Soon\u2019. Check out captivating single \u2018One Song Away From Crying\u2019 below, along with new tour dates.<\/p>\n

The new album is the first from Chinouriri since her critically acclaimed 2024 debut LP \u2018What A Devastating Turn of Events<\/a>\u2019, and is set for release on October 16 via Parlophone \/ Atlas Artists. Visit here<\/a> to pre-order.<\/p>\n

Coming as an expansion of her unique alt-indie pop sound, \u2018I Think I Spoke Too Soon\u2019 was recorded between London, Hereford and Los Angeles, and sees the singer put a surrealist spin on some of the most pivotal moments of her life.<\/p>\n

To mark the announcement, Chinouriri has dropped a first taster of the record with new single \u2018One Song Away From Crying\u2019 \u2013 a synthpop-tinged, reflective anthem, which explores that moment on a dancefloor where it sinks in that you\u2019ve \u201cnever looked better\u201d but \u201cnever felt worse\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018One song away from crying\u2019 is about the precipice of a night out where you know you need to leave and have to make a decision,\u201d Chinouriri explained. \u201cIt\u2019s a deeper decision because it\u2019s less about the night itself but more about a reflection of a deeper internal conflict with your self value that you haven\u2019t looked at yet.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The track sets the scene for the album as a whole, as Chinouriri takes on themes of starting again, aligning thoughts and actions, and being more patient and forgiving with yourself.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy core thing is you can change who you are at any moment and you can forgive yourself at any moment,\u201d she shared. \u201cAnd I think forgiving yourself is the first step in becoming a better person.\u201d<\/p>\n

As well as announcing the new album, Chinouriri has also shared a new run of headline shows. Dates kick off in Los Angeles on August 26, and continue with shows in Dublin, London, Brussels, Paris and more in September.<\/p>\n

Other tour dates on the way include a slot at Olivia Rodrigo\u2019s inaugural Daisy Chain Fields Festival<\/a> in California next month \u2013 where Chinouriri joins Chappell Roan<\/a>, Bikini Kill<\/a>, Doechii<\/a>, Garbage<\/a> and more on the bill \u2013 and some US shows supporting Gracie Abrams at the end of the year<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Chinouriri joined Wolf Alice for their biggest headline concert to date at London\u2019s Finsbury Park<\/a>, with The Last Dinner Party<\/a>, Lykke Li<\/a>, Keo, Florence Road<\/a> and more on the bill.<\/p>\n

In a four-star review of her debut album<\/a>, NME said: \u2018What A Devastating Turn Of Events\u2019 \u2013 despite its slightly macabre title \u2013 is consistently charming, while offering enough range in sound and scope to hint at Chinouriri\u2019s future ambitions. She has worked hard to make it sound this easy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The record went on to be named one of NME\u2018s 20 Best Debut Albums of 2024<\/a>, and came in at Number 10 in our overall 50 Best Albums of 2024 list<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In 2024, Chinouriri spoke to NME as part of her time on The Cover<\/a>, and revealed that she took inspiration from the \u201800s while working on the debut album as a way to reclaim her position in British society and the indie scene, where Black womanhood is often misrepresented.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s me trying to relive the place I grew up in, but also understand that those things caused me so much trauma,\u201d she said. \u201cEven though I was having some of the worst times of my life, when I heard songs like [Phoenix<\/a>\u2019s] \u20181901\u2019 or [Kings Of Leon<\/a>\u2019s] \u2018Sex on Fire\u2019, they used to make me so happy.
