News broke Thursday that Paramount+<\/a> \u2014 owned by the same company that distributed the original teen movie \u2014 greenlit a new series based on the film, with Silverstone returning as the iconic Cher Horowitz.<\/p>\n A prior attempt at reviving <\/a>Clueless<\/a> as a series failed earlier this year at Peacock, with CBS Studios and Paramount ultimately landing the project back at its OG studio home.<\/p>\n Original director Amy Heckerling<\/a> will also return to produce the series alongside Silverstone, with plot details also unveiled for the upcoming project that’s set to film on location in 2027.<\/p>\n Alicia Silverstone in ‘Clueless’ “Picking up 30 years after the original film, beloved Beverly Hills icon Cher Horowitz has figured out a lot,” an official synopsis reads.<\/p>\n It continues, “She’s successful in business and has mastered motherhood \u2014 that is, until her daughter’s high school years, and Cher finds that parenting a teenager makes her feel ‘clueless’ all over again.”<\/p>\n Paramount+’s announcement did not indicate whether or not fellow Clueless movie stars Stacey Dash, Elisa Donovan, Jeremy Sisto, Breckin Meyer, Wallace Shawn, Donald Faison, or Paul Rudd<\/a> would reprise their roles. Supporting actress Brittany Murphy, who played the fan-favorite character<\/a> Tai in the movie, died in 2009.<\/p>\n “Clueless is coming home,” said Paramount+’s Jane Wiseman, head of the streamer’s original programming, in a press statement. “Thirty-one years ago, Alicia Silverstone’s Cher Horowitz captivated audiences with her signature chic style, sharp wit and relentless optimism, helping make Clueless a box office hit and instant pop culture classic. We’re especially proud to be filming this much-anticipated series in Los Angeles, honoring its starring role in the original film while investing in the city’s exceptional talent and crews.”<\/p>\n Before Thursday’s announcement, Silverstone spoke about working on a Clueless revival.<\/p>\n Alicia Silverstone in ‘Clueless’ “I think we’re going to try really hard. The goal is to make it honor what everyone loves about Clueless and Cher,” Silverstone said in 2025<\/a>. “So we want to honor that, but also bring something fresh and new to it.
