Alicia Silverstone is set to reprise her iconic role from \u201cClueless\u201d for a sequel TV series.<\/p>\n
Paramount+, owned by the same company that distributed the original 1995 comedy, gave the series the greenlight with Silverstone returning as Cher.<\/p>\n
There had been a previous attempt to launch a series based on the movie at Peacock.<\/p>\n
\u201cPicking up 30 years after the original film, beloved Beverly Hills icon Cher Horowitz has figured out a lot,\u201d an official synopsis reads. \u201cShe\u2019s successful in business and has mastered motherhood \u2014 that is, until her daughter\u2019s high school years, and Cher finds that parenting a teenager makes her feel \u2018clueless\u2019 all over again.\u201d<\/p>\n
Original director Amy Heckerling will return to produce the series alongside Silverstone, and filming is expected to start in 2027.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2018Clueless\u2019 is coming home,\u201d Paramount+\u2019s Jane Wiseman, head of the streamer\u2019s original programming, said in a statement to Deadline<\/a>. \u201cThirty-one years ago, Alicia Silverstone\u2019s Cher Horowitz captivated audiences with her signature chic style, sharp wit and relentless optimism, helping make Clueless a box office hit and instant pop culture classic. We\u2019re especially proud to be filming this much-anticipated series in Los Angeles, honoring its starring role in the original film while investing in the city\u2019s exceptional talent and crews.\u201d<\/p>\n No news yet if any of the films other stars Stacey Dash, Elisa Donovan, Jeremy Sisto, Breckin Meyer, Wallace Shawn, Donald Faison, or Paul Rudd will reprise their roles.
