Shoppers in an Asda store were praised on social media for waiting in long queues to buy their\u00a0 shopping instead of using the self-checkout tills\u00a0<\/p>\n

The self-checkout tills stood empty in a silent protest which has divided social media users\u00a0<\/p>\n
The video, posted yesterday afternoon, got 959k views and had people divided.\u00a0<\/p>\n
One woman commented: ‘Self check outs are a ridiculous idea – we can’t work them, they take twice as long and we’re not paid to man those machines. Stop self checking out!!!!’\u00a0<\/p>\n
Another user strongly agreed, commenting: ‘I absolutely refuse to use self checkout. Rather wait half an hour than use them. When I asked why I refused, I said that’s someone’s job right there, greedy supermarkets, everyone should refuse, then they would have to pay staff to man tills. It’s not for the customer’s benefit.’<\/p>\n
Other users, however, disagreed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
One user simply put: ‘God I’d be on the self checkouts in a shot. Hate queueing.’<\/p>\n
Another user commented that the self service till was better for them due to their anxiety.<\/p>\n
‘For someone who suffers anxiety and social anxiety I have to admit I prefer self service checkouts, obviously I don’t like that people may lose jobs but sometimes self checkout is a help for people like me.’<\/p>\n
