A man has captured footage of a \u201cbig cat\u201d wandering through a Cornish field.<\/p>\n
Holidaymaker Wez Awad said he spotted the large black feline \u201cstrolling\u201d past hedges by the holiday cottage he has been staying at in Newlyn.<\/p>\n
He said he was on the phone in the garden at around 8:45pm on Tuesday (July 28) when it suddenly caught his attention.<\/p>\n
Not quite believing what he was seeing, Wez quickly ended his call and started filming the animal, explaining that he thought it was far too big to be a domestic cat.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt caught my eye when it came into the field, walking along the hedgerow,\u201d Wez told CornwallLive. \u201cI was on the phone and I just cancelled the call and videoed what I saw.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was there for probably about 15 minutes and it walked across the field.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt first, I thought it was a big dog but then I couldn\u2019t see an owner, so it sort of got me interested.\u201d<\/p>\n
Wez, who is visiting Cornwall with his wife and their dog from just outside north London, described the moment as being “significant” and said at one point, he is convinced the animal looked directly at him.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was quite calm, it was walking with some confidence and I guess that caught my attention as well, it just strolled,\u201d he said. \u201cIt must have covered about three or four hundred metres just walking along.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt stopped a couple of times and I swear it looked at me but I just think it was quite exciting to be fair.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cIt was really interesting, it was significant, it just didn\u2019t feel right.\u201d<\/p>\n
Wez said he believes the feline was almost the size of a \u201cblack panther\u201d but his wife is not quite so sure.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy wife has been taking the mickey out of me but I would say it was the size of a black panther,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
