{"id":720925,"date":"2026-07-31T12:57:12","date_gmt":"2026-07-31T12:57:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/720925\/"},"modified":"2026-07-31T12:57:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-31T12:57:12","slug":"hall-of-fame-legend-changes-his-joshua-vs-fury-prediction-after-latest-performances-completely-shot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/720925\/","title":{"rendered":"Hall of Fame legend changes his Joshua vs Fury prediction after latest performances: &#8220;Completely shot&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/tyson-fury\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tyson Fury<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/anthony-joshua\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anthony Joshua<\/a>\u2018s respective warm-up fights, one Hall of Fame inductee has re-evaluated his prediction for their expected showdown.<\/p>\n<p>The two heavyweights came through their respective outings against Mariusz Wach and Kristian Prenga over the weekend, with both of them winning by stoppage.<\/p>\n<p>As it happened, though, <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/news\/usyk-reacts-to-joshua-ko-win-over-prenga\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Joshua was made to overcome two knockdowns<\/a> in the opening round, causing many to raise doubts over his punch resistance.<\/p>\n<p>Alarmingly, the 36-year-old was floored within the first 20 seconds \u2013 courtesy of a Prenga right uppercut \u2013 before climbing off the canvas a second time to stop his man in round two.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/boxing\/articles\/cy5dnnq1l0po\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Fury, too, seemed a shadow of his former self but nonetheless stopped the 46-year-old Wach in seven rounds<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This followed his dominant, yet somewhat flawed, display against Arslanbek Makhmudov, who he unanimously outpointed with a pedestrian performance in April.<\/p>\n<p>One man who has now commented on the expected clash between Fury and \u2018AJ\u2019 is former world champion Barry McGuigan, who was one of many who was initially favouring the superior power of Joshua.<\/p>\n<p>It is now harder to make that same prediction with any real certainty, and while the Irish boxing icon <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ClonesCyclone\/status\/2081518813925847531?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\">highlighted on social media<\/a> that Fury hardly produced the most convincing performance, he felt that Joshua looked \u2018completely shot\u2019 against Prenga.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wrote in my Daily Mirror column last week that I believed Joshua\u2019s punch resistance had evaporated, but I still thought he could beat Fury.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut AJ looked completely shot [against Prenga].
