Android smartphones, Samsung has firmly established itself as a leader not just in hardware, but also in software longevity. The company’s commitment to providing seven years of major Android OS upgrades for its flagship devices has set a new industry benchmark, offering users unparalleled long-term value and security.

This policy, which surpasses the support offered by most other Android manufacturers, rivals even Google’s own commitment to its Pixel lineup. It ensures that a premium Samsung device purchased today will continue to receive the latest features, performance enhancements, and critical security patches well into the next decade.

The initiative began with the launch of the Galaxy S24 series and has since become the new standard for Samsung’s high-end portfolio. For consumers, this means greater peace of mind and a more sustainable investment. Below is the definitive list of Samsung Galaxy devices that are confirmed to receive seven years of Android OS updates.

Why Does a 7-Year Update Policy Matter?

While Google was the first to introduce a seven-year support window, Samsung’s vast portfolio of flagship devices means this policy has a broader market impact. This commitment is crucial for several reasons:

Enhanced Security: Devices remain protected against the latest security threats for their entire usable lifespan.

Long-Term Value: A longer support window increases the resale value and justifies the premium cost of a flagship device.

Access to New Features: Users are not left behind and can enjoy new Android features and One UI enhancements for years to come.

Sustainability: By extending the life of its devices, Samsung helps reduce e-waste, promoting a more sustainable approach to consumer electronics.

This extended software support has become a major selling point for Samsung, solidifying its position as a top choice for consumers seeking a powerful, reliable, and future-proof Android experience.

Eligible Samsung devices list for seven years of Android updates is here.
