\n\tAfter nearly 25 years, the \u201ccautionary\u201d aspect of The Wire<\/a> is no longer seen as a dire warning to society to star Wendell Pierce<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe Tony winner recently explained why the HBO<\/a> show, which ran for five seasons from 2002 to \u201908, does not warrant a reboot as the show\u2019s societal themes are \u201cdemonstrated today\u201d in real time.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Wire is something that is classic,\u201d he told Collider<\/a>. \u201cWhat makes it classic [is] it speaks to, it spoke to the audience then, it speaks to us now, it will speak to audiences long after it\u2019s over.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tExplaining that the David Simon<\/a>-created series about the police and drug dealers of Baltimore was \u201cthe cautionary tale that it was, the fact that it lets people know there\u2019s an ugly side of human nature,\u201d Pierce noted, \u201cWe\u2019re seeing that demonstrated today.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI mean as we stand here on wonderful beautiful Hollywood Boulevard, they have American secret police who raided MacArthur Park today with guns drawn on citizens for no reason,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
