Key European FinTech investment stats in H1 2026:<\/p>\n

European FinTech deal activity grew 9% in H1<\/p>\n

European FinTech raised $9.2bn across 541 deals in H1 2026.<\/p>\n

Funding climbed 5% from $8.7bn in H1 2025 and 34% from $6.8bn in H2 2025.<\/p>\n

Deal volume was broadly stable, rising just 1% from 537 transactions in H1 2025 and 9% from 497 in H2 2025.<\/p>\n

The picture is one of quiet resilience.<\/p>\n

Both funding and deal activity held firm on a year-on-year basis, with the more notable recovery coming against the softer H2 2025 figures rather than representing a sharp acceleration from the first half of last year.<\/p>\n

UK cemented its place as the European FinTech hub as companies based in the country secured 35% of all deals<\/p>\n

The UK retained its position as the most active European FinTech market in H1 2026, recording 187 deals and a 35% share of total activity.<\/p>\n

This compares with 181 deals and a 34% share in H1 2025, a 3% rise in volume that also nudged its proportional standing marginally higher.<\/p>\n

France held second place in both periods, growing from 56 deals and a 10% share in H1 2025 to 61 deals and an 11% share in H1 2026, a 9% increase in volume and a slight strengthening of its share.<\/p>\n

Germany retained third place but moved in the opposite direction, slipping from 54 deals and a 10% share in H1 2025 to 42 deals and an 8% share in H1 2026, a 22% decline in volume that also saw its share of overall activity narrow.<\/p>\n

The ranking remained unchanged across both periods, but the divergence between France\u2019s growth and Germany\u2019s contraction is the most consequential shift beneath the surface, pointing to a gradual rebalancing of European FinTech activity between the two continental markets.<\/p>\n

Paymentology, a cloud-native issuer-processor enabling real-time card and digital payment issuance across close to 70 countries, raised $175m in a funding round, marking one of the biggest European FinTech deals of the period<\/p>\n

The round was co-led by Apis Partners<\/a> and Aspirity Partners<\/a>, with Apis investing through its Growth Fund III and Aspirity deploying the capital as its first investment from its inaugural fund.<\/p>\n

The company has seen strong momentum ahead of the raise, with new sales growing 117% year on year in FY25 and transaction volumes rising 65%, driven by demand from digital banks, embedded finance providers, digital asset-linked card programmes and established banks seeking to replace ageing infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Its client base spans prominent FinTechs and neobanks including M-Pesa by Safaricom, GoTyme, Wio Bank and Albo, with meaningful exposure to high-growth regions across the Middle East, Latin America, Africa and Asia-Pacific.<\/p>\n

Proceeds will support continued international expansion, product development and a push into adjacent areas including credit, stablecoin, tokenisation and AI-driven services.<\/p>\n
