On Wednesday night, Melanie Woods had her first Commonwealth Games medal taken away from her. <\/p>\n
But Saturday night, she had two around her neck. Both of them were gold.<\/p>\n
The 31-year-old won the women’s 1500m T54 on Wednesday, then again on Friday, after it was decided the race should be restaged after an accident.<\/p>\n
And she backed that up in her home city by romping to victory in the 400m in a season’s best time of 56.43 seconds.<\/p>\n
“That was the best one yet,” she told BBC Sport Scotland, wryly. “I think I was really able to absorb the crowd and appreciate that lap of honour and everyone that’s here to support me. <\/p>\n
“Looking up at the crowd and seeing how many people had showed up and were screaming my name… that was a pretty special moment.<\/p>\n
“I think the emotions were really coming to the surface tonight. I was actually just reflecting on what a week it’s been. It’s been so up and down.
