Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has posted a parting message on social media after Eddie Howe’s departure. <\/p>\n

On Thursday, Howe’s shock exit from Newcastle<\/a> was confirmed after an incredible five years at St James’ Park.<\/p>\n

The 48-year-old transformed the Toon from relegation candidates to a side capable of mixing it with the best teams, qualifying for the Champions League on two occasions.<\/p>\n

Howe also wrote his name into the club’s history by winning the Carabao Cup against Liverpool in 2025 to end their 70-year trophy drought.<\/p>\n

Despite all of his success, the Englishman felt he couldn’t carry on in the dugout after admitting he had no control over transfers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Newcastle<\/a> have sold several key players in recent seasons, most notably Alexander Isak’s club-record departure to Liverpool in 2025, as well as the exits of Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali this summer.<\/p>\n

Howe even hinted after the 4-1 defeat to Bristol City in pre-season that captain Bruno Guimaraes could be next to leave as he closes in on a move to Arsenal.<\/p>\n

According to L’Equipe, the Gunners have had a \u00a377 million bid accepted<\/a> by the Magpies on Friday, with bonuses and agent fees still to be determined.<\/p>\n

Earlier in July, Guimaraes informed Newcastle chiefs that he wanted to leave the club – but unlike Isak – wouldn’t force a move away from the North East.<\/p>\n

The Brazilian has also asked the hierarchy to delay his travel to La Manga for a pre-season training camp, and it appears a switch to the Emirates is fast approaching.<\/p>\n

Bruno Guimaraes posts emotional message after Eddie Howe departure<\/p>\n

Guimaraes has made an everlasting impact since joining Newcastle from Lyon for \u00a340 million in January 2022.<\/p>\n

Becoming arguably one of the Premier League<\/a>‘s best midfielders, the 28-year-old has played a pivotal role in multiple Champions League campaigns, as well as lifting the Carabao Cup.<\/p>\n

Last season, the Brazil international produced 15 goal involvements in 29 top-flight appearances, making supporters fall in love with him even more.<\/p>\n

Guimaraes also had a positive relationship with Howe and has shared an emotional message on his Instagram story, thanking the manager for helping him grow as a player and person.<\/p>\n

He wrote: “Ed, how could I ever put into words how grateful I am to you? First of all, I want to thank you for bringing me to this club. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me, for helping me grow not only as a player, but more importantly, as a person.<\/p>\n

“You gave me the honour of being captain – of being your captain. That is something I will never forget and will carry with me for the rest of my life.<\/p>\n

“Sharing the day-to-day with you and having you as my manager has been a privilege. I’m truly grateful for every opportunity, for the trust you placed in me, and for every moment we shared together.<\/p>\n

“Without a doubt, you are one of the best managers I’ve ever had. Please know that my gratitude will always remain, and that you will always have a friend in me.<\/p>\n

“Thank you for everything. I wish you and your family nothing but happiness, success, and all the very best. With affection, Bruno.”<\/p>\n

Guimares scored 31 goals and assisted 32 in 195 appearances under Howe, who was largely responsible for helping him realise his potential.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for Newcastle fans, the Brazilian’s close relationship with their former manager and his thoughts about his exit only put his future into further doubt.<\/p>\n
